The Misogi Challenge: Pushing my limits in 2025

Have you ever set a goal so big that it scared you? A challenge so bold that it had the potential to redefine who you are? That’s exactly what the Misogi Challenge is all about, and this year, I’m all in.
What is the Misogi Challenge?
Traditionally, Misogi is a Japanese ritual of cleansing the body and mind, removing impurities, and starting fresh. In modern times, it has taken on a new meaning—pushing personal boundaries, embracing growth, and becoming a better version of yourself by taking on one seemingly impossible challenge per year.
The idea is simple: choose a goal that’s so challenging it forces you to grow. Something with only a 50% chance of success, meaning you’re not sure if you can actually do it—but that’s the point. It’s about confronting fears, doubts, and limitations head-on.
My Misogi Challenge for 2025
For those who know me, I’m constantly looking for ways to improve—whether in business, personal development, or fitness. This year, I’m taking on two massive goals:
Bench Press 225 Pounds – This is a significant jump in my strength training, and I know it’s going to take dedication, discipline, and consistency to get there.
Run a Full Marathon (Faster Than Ever!) – I’ve run marathons before, but this time, I’m pushing myself harder. My goal? To finish with a pace of under 10 minutes per mile, something I’ve never done before. At 47 years old, I want to prove that age is just a number when it comes to setting big goals and chasing personal bests.
Why This Challenge Matters
The Misogi Challenge isn’t just about physical fitness—it’s about mental resilience. It’s about showing up, putting in the work, and proving to myself that I can break through barriers. It’s about setting an example for my family, my team, and my community that we are all capable of more than we think.
This challenge will require sacrifice, time, and a lot of discipline. But I believe that through this process, I will emerge stronger—not just physically, but mentally and emotionally as well.
Now, It’s Your Turn
I’m not doing this alone—I want YOU to take on a Misogi Challenge of your own. It doesn’t have to be fitness-related. Maybe your challenge is:
- Starting a new business or career path
- Writing a book
- Learning a new skill
- Breaking a bad habit
- Running your first 5K, half marathon, or full marathon
Whatever it is, make it BIG. Make it bold. Make it something that challenges who you are today so you can become someone even better tomorrow.
